Prone to wander Lord I feel it,
Prone to leave the God I love
Here’s my heart Lord,
Take and seal it,
Seal it for Thy courts above.
And the two shall become one…
I have really been examining my life lately…the good, the bad, and the ugly…and as such, I’ve been able to recognize, through the revelation of the Holy Spirit, where certain misalignments have been. No, this hasn’t been me beating myself up for failures, although that has certainly been present many, many times before. I do believe it’s easy to slip into a mode of self-loathing, guilt, and shame, but what God has been showing me as of late is that Jesus Christ is SUPREME over everything. That His grace is truly sufficient for me, and that there is now no condemnation for me in Christ Jesus.

AUDIO VERSION — THE GRIP OF SIN
VIDEO VERSION — THE GRIP OF SIN
1 Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, left the Jordan and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness, 2where for forty days he was tempted[a] by the devil. He ate nothing during those days, and at the end of them he was hungry.
3 The devil said to him, “If you are the Son of God, tell this stone to become bread.”
4 Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone.’[b]”
5 The devil led him up to a high place and showed him in an instant all the kingdoms of the world. 6 And he said to him, “I will give you all their authority and splendor; it has been given to me, and I can give it to anyone I want to. 7 If you worship me, it will all be yours.”
8 Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God and serve him only.’[c]”
9 The devil led him to Jerusalem and had him stand on the highest point of the temple. “If you are the Son of God,” he said, “throw yourself down from here. 10 For it is written:
“‘He will command his angels concerning you
to guard you carefully;
11 they will lift you up in their hands,
so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.’[d]”
12 Jesus answered, “It is said: ‘Do not put the Lord your God to the test.’[e]”
13 When the devil had finished all this tempting, he left him until an opportune time.
God woke me up the other night, and when I got out of bed, I looked at my digital alarm clock. It read: 3:59. When I saw the time, something stirred in my spirit, telling me that God wanted me to read Psalm 35, verse 9. I awoke with a headache, an excruciating one at that, so when I went downstairs to read, I really didn’t want to turn the lights on.

“22Wives, submit to your husbands as to the Lord. 23For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior. 24Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything.
25Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her 26to make her holy, cleansing[b] her by the washing with water through the word, 27and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless. 28In this same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. 29After all, no one ever hated his own body, but he feeds and cares for it, just as Christ does the church— 30for we are members of his body. 31“For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh.” 32This is a profound mystery—but I am talking about Christ and the church.33However, each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband.” (Ephesians 5:22-33)
There seems to be a camp of writers out there whose books are quite popular right now in Christian circles, and each of them talk about the radical language of our Lord & Savior, Jesus Christ. I believe I have read from each of them a reference to Christ’s words in John 6:53, where He says, “‘I tell you the truth, unless you eat of the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you.’”
This passage is obviously talking about the crucifixion of Christ, but there seems to be an element of sensationalism attached to the way these writers use this truth. Now, I’m not saying they are off-base, because they always go on to address what these words really mean, but as I came across this yet again in another book the other night, a thought hit me. I want to share it with you.

I suspect each of us wants a richer, more fulfilling marriage, and I suspect each of us wants our spouses to walk more closely with God. What better way for this to happen than to be praying for each other. I read this list recently as a way to pray for my wife, and I felt compared to share it with you. It is adapted to fit both husbands and wives…from a book by Stormie Omartian.
Praying for your spouse…
