Retrograde Sin Amnesia

I read an article recently about a man in Arizona who fell while walking into a bathroom at a restaurant.  He slipped on some cleaning fluid.  When he fell, he hit his head, suffering a concussion.

In normal concussions, there can be short-term memory loss, accompanied by normal haziness; however, in this man’s case, he lost his memory completely, it has yet to return, and the doctors believe there is a very real possibility that it never will.

Prepare Your Fields

There is a scene in the movie Facing The Giants that I kinda like.  It’s short, and you can watch it below.

In the scene, the main character is coming off a period of great struggle, where it seems like he’s failing in every area of life.  He has become desperate and has finally turned to God, but nothing is really changing in his life.  He’s been praying, but he feels like nothing is happening.  A man comes to talk to him, and this is the conversation that ensues…

Prayer of Surrender

My God,

I come before you humbly today, seeking answers, seeking truth, wanting to know the real You, not the You I want or think I need You to be, but the real You.

God, I am so wrapped up in ME and all that goes along with that.  I know a lot of your divine truths.  I can speak about them and write about them.  My mind understands them, but lately, it feels like my heart isn’t getting them.  That, somehow, I feel so misaligned, despite my mind knowing exactly who You are.  My heart is missing it somehow.

I had a post in mind for today, but I saw this video and just had to share it with you.  I’ll be back on Friday with a post of some sort.  I’m thinking about SURRENDER and what that really means.  Who knows, we’ll see where God leads my thoughts and writing for Friday.  Until then, enjoy the following:

My Grace Is Sufficient

A verse has been ringing in my heart the last few days.

“But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.” (2 Corinthians 12:9)

My grace is sufficient for you.  My grace is sufficient for you.  My grace is sufficient for you.

It just kept ringing and ringing and ringing, and then, it changed to my perspective.

Your grace is sufficient for me.  Your grace is sufficient for me.  Your grace is sufficient for me.

Where is God?

Where is God?

I know, I know…He’s everywhere.  He’s omnipresent.  He’s in everything.  He’s in nature—in the trees, grass, plants, and flowers.  He’s in animals and birds and fish.  Some people believe His energy is in all things, even stuff like tables and televisions, and without really getting into the intricate details of Physics and joules and all of that, let’s just go under the assumption that He is.  He’s also certainly in us.  He breathed the breath of life into us way back at the beginning of Creation, and as believers, His Holy Spirit indwells us.  So, He’s everywhere.

If all of that is true, then why is it so hard sometimes to see Him, to feel Him, to hear Him, to serve Him, to worship Him, to love Him?

I need a break from me.

I was once again in a local establishment yesterday morning, and I overheard two women talking.  You may have noticed that I tend to pay attention to the people around me.  This is mostly because I’m always on the lookout for blog fodder or inspiration for writing topics.  Sometimes though, people just make their stuff so obvious that I can’t help but pay attention.  This conversation was one of those blatantly obvious situations.

Really No Gospel At All

I was amazed by grace yesterday.

God revealed to me yet again how incredible His love really is, and it came in the form of a discussion I had with a good friend regarding political parties.  My friend is a staunch supporter of one of the two main political factions and believes Christians have a moral obligation to subscribe to the main points of their particular platform, lest they be too tolerant of things that don’t seemingly align with the teachings of Christ.

Personally, I disagree, despite a lot of my personal beliefs aligning more closely with this party’s platform than the other.  I also disagree while having no problem with my friend believing as he does.  I also know that I can disagree with him while still loving him as a brother in Christ.  Interestingly, I suspect he and I have very similar views on the main “moral” political points, albeit we go about our support of those much differently.

This is where my amazement of graces comes in.
